Strange issue with things sticking through Dire av..

I was helping someone with an issue with their dire av, and so put my own on so I could see what they were seeing and better diagnose. I noticed odd black things sticking out of the sides of my avatar, and around my eyes.

At first I thought it was a rezzing problem, so I took off that version of the av, and put on another (I saved several color variations as seperate "outfits" and have never had this issue before), but it was the same way.

After the third time I thought, "Huh. I should report this." I use the regular Viewer 2, and run Windows Vista Home Ultimate. I've never had this issue before (heck, you can see how my av's face USUALLY looks by my avatar here).

Any ideas what this might be? I know it's parts of the blacked-out human shape showing through, but why would it be doing it now, suddenly?

ooh...Looks like a graphics/3d problem.Check the settings on your video card and run a systems rating check.

is it the same on the other side of the dire?

It could also be a long term glitch.Happens when you've had a certain character for a while...It happened to me with some other games

Your prims aren't rezzing properly. Check the settings in preferences and make sure you've got the avatar detail up all the way. I've been running into this problem on Viewer 2 as well, but not the older viewers.

Yeah, it rezzed fine when I logged in tonight. Apparently I had a buggy instance of the game. Oh well. Thanks for the help, Jakkal.

I upped my avatar detail all the way, but it's still doing the same thing.

I have to keep all my other settings at lowest to let SL run on my computer though, and with ALL the settings at lowest, it's never done this before. Any other suggestions?

Well the good thing with the dire is that it's completely covering the avatar shape, so you could put on a full alpha skin to hide the underlaying avatar. As for the low detail of the prims I'm not sure if you have avatar detail all the way up, unless something else is affecting it. Can try to mess around with the other sliders to see if anything helps for that.

I didn't have avatar detail all the way up when I took those pictures, but I have since fixed that.

Where would I get a full alpha skin?

You should have received one sponsored by LL. Look for "invisible avatar" in your inventory. ^^
