Default Second Life Viewer 2

Augh! I almost got the Labradors finished when SL dropped this on us:

https://blogs.secondlife.com/communi...-now-available

YES! Version 2! They're adding in the alpha masks and tattoos! No more invisiprims!!

*cough* I'll go back to working on the extras now until that's out, and I'll start working on no-invisiprim versions of the avatars.

Oy, lots of work ahead for me.

It works beautifully too, check out my invisiprimless Slate Fox V4

The hands are a little big since I don't use those and haven't re-sized them for my avatar.

Oh, that is so nice to see! Is version 2 stable enough for me to start working on it? I was going to wait til it was out of Beta before doing anything serious with it.

It's very stable for me so far, and I'm starting to get used to the UI. It has a few bugs, mostly releated to preferances (system folders keep reverting to on top) and it's missing a couple important features like image uploading. I had to upload the alpha textures in the Emerald viewer and switch to the new viewer to apply them.

I would say, go for it. It only took me a couple minutes per attachment and the alpha textures were easy to make once I figured it out.

Here's the alpha for the lower body. It's really just a solid black PNG file with the bits that need to be invisible erased. I was trying to work with proper alpha channels, but it wasn't showing up right.

BTW, you can apparently drop the resolution down to 32x32 on the alpha textures, but I haven't tried that yet.

Image uploading is about 90% of what I do. So I think I'll hold off until they get that part introduced.

I think uploading was moved to the Inventory panel.

Also, I personally hate the new UI, and not from bugs but from how it's designed and setup.

I was told it's now the + button in the inventory window, I just checked and it's there.

As for the UI, I've actually become found of it. It has its faults (Chat being a major one) but the side bar is very nice once you get used to it. And having inventory links is great for outfits. No more buying multiple copies of the same outfit for different avatars

Now, as for tinypic.com, I won't bother with them again LOL

Yep yep, the upload function is there, strg+U also works.

What keeps me from using it as my main viewer is that it's so godawfully slow. It turns SL into a slideshow for me and I'm not the only one whose FPS went right into the basement...

I've had no issues with Viewer 2 at all, and honestly, it moves FASTER for me than the old one did.

Appears faster for me as well and now that I'm used to the UI I really hate going back to the old one.
